Get your marketing in tip top shape for the holidays! Here’s your Pinterest marketing guide for 2025.
Planning and Pinterest go hand in hand. The Pinterest user is someone who is always looking ahead and planning their next event, trip or purchase. Which is why they are already starting to think about the holidays (even though it’s still 95 degrees here in Spokane). So the time to start marketing for the holiday season is…now!
The good news? If you’re using Pinterest, you’re already a step ahead.
Pinterest is one of the best platforms for holiday marketing, especially if you sell products, offer seasonal services, or create content that helps people plan their holidays. From early gift guides to last-minute party ideas, it’s where people go to plan, not just scroll. And that means it’s full of shoppers who are actively searching for what you offer.
So whether you’re brand new to Pinterest or just want to step up your strategy this year, here’s your guide to making the most of the 2025 holiday season on Pinterest.
Why Pinterest Is The Place to Be This Holiday Season
Pinterest isn’t just another social platform it’s where people actually plan what to buy, make, and do for the holidays. And the data backs it up:
-
70% of weekly Pinners say they’re open to trying new brands during the holiday season. That means your small business has a real shot at getting discovered by shoppers who are ready to say yes.
-
64% of weekly users are creating wishlists on Pinterest—compared to just 43% on other platforms. Pinterest isn’t just for inspiration, it’s for intentional shopping.
-
And here’s one more: Click-based conversions on Pinterest are up 51% year over year. People aren’t just browsing—they’re clicking, buying, and coming back for more.
If you’ve ever felt like your holiday marketing gets lost in the noise on Instagram or Facebook, Pinterest might just be the breath of fresh air your brand needs this season.
1. Start Sooner Than You Think (Like Now)
One of the biggest mistakes I see? Waiting until November to post holiday content. On Pinterest, people start searching for holiday gift ideas, winter decor, and seasonal recipes months ahead, so the earlier you show up, the better your chances of being found. Pins also take time to take off, so you need to start getting your pins up now to have them getting traction by the time the holiday searches start to roll in. The shelf life of a pin is months (even years!) so don’t worry about traction dwindling before the season hits.
If you’re thinking “It’s only August,” just know that Pinterest is already seeing spikes in search terms like:
-
“Christmas gift ideas for her”
-
“Holiday decor 2025”
-
“Stocking stuffers for kids”
-
“DIY teacher gifts”
What to do now:
Start creating (or repurposing) holiday content and get it scheduled to go live as soon as possible. If you use Tailwind or another scheduler, you can line up your entire season in one sitting. Your future self will thank you!
2. Think Like a Search Engine

Pinterest is visual, yes, but it’s also a search engine. That means keywords are a big deal. When you add the right phrases to your pin titles, descriptions, board names, and even the text overlay on your graphics, you make it easier for your content to be found.
Start with your audience—what are they likely to be searching for this time of year? Then sprinkle those terms naturally into your content.
A few examples:
-
“Holiday outfit ideas for work parties”
-
“Cozy winter home decor on a budget”
-
“Easy Christmas cookie recipes”
-
“Gift ideas for women who have everything”
(And if keyword research makes your head spin, no worries—that’s something we help all of our clients with.)

3. Make Sure Your Products Are on Pinterest
If you’re selling online, one of the best things you can do for your holiday marketing is get your Pinterest product catalog up and running.
This basically turns your product listings into Product Pins—which include your pricing, availability, and a direct link back to your website. These pins also show up in the Pinterest shopping feed, which is huge.
If you use Shopify, the setup is pretty straightforward. If you’re on another platform or feeling stuck, I’m happy to help. This is one of the most effective ways to make your content shoppable during the holiday season.
4. Run Pinterest Ads
Pinterest ads are one of the best opportunities out there!
While organic pinning is still powerful, Pinterest ads are what really move the needle when it comes to sales, especially during the holidays.
Pinterest ads are still relatively affordable (compared to Meta), and the targeting options are really smart. You can get in front of people based on what they’re searching for, what they’ve engaged with, or even people who’ve been to your website.
I’ve seen clients go from a couple sales a week to consistent daily orders just by running the right Pinterest ad campaign. If you’re ready to scale and want someone to handle it for you, our Pinterest Ad Management service takes care of everything from setup to optimization.
5. Create Holiday Content That Converts
Let’s talk about content. The holidays are a perfect time to get creative, showcase your brand, and give people ideas for how your product fits into their life. Creating holiday content, whether that’s a blog post or short form video, will help you grow brand awareness and sales this holiday season. The average customer sees a product 7 times before they buy, when you have high quality content circulating out there, you are increasing your customer touch points in an engaging way.
Here are a few holiday content ideas that do really well on Pinterest:
-
Gift guides (especially when they’re super specific—“Gifts for plant lovers under $30”)
-
Lifestyle images (think: your product in a real-life holiday moment)
-
Holiday tutorials or quick videos (wrapping tips, decorating ideas, etc.)
-
Festive product displays or styled flatlays
-
Behind-the-scenes peeks at your holiday prep or packaging
You don’t need a big production—just thoughtful, helpful, seasonally relevant content.
6. Track What’s Working
Once your pins and ads are live, keep an eye on what’s performing. Pinterest analytics can show you which pins are getting clicks, saves, and conversions—and which ones aren’t.
Some things to watch:
-
Outbound clicks (how many people are going to your site)
-
Saves (which often indicate future purchases)
-
Ad performance (especially CTR, ROAS, and cost per action)
At PinHouss, we check these numbers weekly for our clients so we can keep optimizing as we go. The holidays move fast, and staying on top of the data helps us make smart, strategic changes.
7. Follow the Trends (and Use Pinterest’s Trends Tool)
One of the easiest ways to stay ahead this holiday season? Keep an eye on what’s trending.
Pinterest actually gives you a free (and super helpful) tool called Pinterest Trends where you can see what people are searching for in real time. You can filter by country, time of year, and even compare different keywords side-by-side to see what’s gaining traction.
Why it matters:
When you align your content with what people are already searching for, your Pins are more likely to show up in results—and get clicks, saves, and sales.
Here’s how to use it during the holidays:
-
Search for terms like “holiday gifts,” “Christmas decor,” “winter fashion,” or anything related to your niche
-
See when those terms start trending so you know when to post
-
Compare keywords (like “cozy Christmas decor” vs. “minimalist holiday decor”) to find what’s growing faster
-
Use trending phrases in your Pin titles, descriptions, and text overlay to boost discoverability
Even better—when you combine trend insights with your own product positioning, you can create Pins that feel timely and uniquely you.
(And if trend tracking feels overwhelming, don’t worry—it’s something we do for all our clients behind the scenes to make sure their content stays relevant and search-friendly.)
